The Studio

Studio inside

The first part of the barn we decided to renovate is what we refer to as The Studio. When we were first looking at the property, we thought this space would be fixed up and rented out to people needing space for small workshops for example. As it turned out, we needed the space first.

I had put Peaceful Wraps, my hobby business, on hold. I shut down my Etsy and Amazon shops and closed down the website. But, orders didn’t stop coming in.  I crammed my sewing machine and serger machine, plus various macrame rope, materials, and supplies into my consulting business office to try and keep up. The barn stores most of my supplies. There is little room for a workshop inside the house, so to get me operational, we pushed plans for renovating the Studio part of the barn first.

The room needed heat, electrical re-wiring, insulation, a new floor and new wall, and a way to hide large concrete areas. The windows needed repair. It was neglected and needed cleaning too.

The weekend of June 16 we began to move in.

The following summer we had the windows replaced and gutters put on the barn. Some additional interior repair to the wood walls was done.

The old windows have since been replaced.
